The Idiots guide to adding a post - (also for stokers)

We have quite a lot of members but TOO few are active posters. In an effort to increase this number dramatically I thought I'd add this short instruction as to how to add posts simply and quickly.

Some members already know all of the following and you have absolutely no excuse for not adding posts ! For others the following is a hurdle to cross.

For simple text posts

Find the forum you want to post in.

After you've selected the Forum then press the New Topic button on the left

Write in the TITLE of the post and then write in the text you want.

When you are finished simply press either the Preview or the Send button (the Preview button allows you to check the result before you publish the post).

A quick explanation on Copying and Pasting of text

If you want to copy text from another source, for example, from an email. This will save you a lot of time!

Go to the email, mark the text you want to copy (do this by holding down the left mouse button and drawing the cursor over the text you want - it should turn blue)
Press and hold down the Ctrl (control) button on the keyboard bottom left and press the C button once. This will copy the text into the PC memory.

If the text is to pasted into the new post then place the cursor in the new post where you want the text to appear and again press and hold the Ctrl button and press the V button once to paste in the text. As if by magic the text appears in the posting.

The text can be adjusted by first marking the text you want to adjust (do this by holding down the left mouse button and drawing the cursor over the text you want to adjust - it should turn blue) then select which characteristic the text should be, Bold, Italic, underline etc. Try this out a few times to see how it works. (some internal code appears on the screen)

Since this posting programme does not immediately show the changes you have made press the Preview button to check your result. If you want to continue adjustments to your posting then roll further down the page, do your adjusts and preview again. Then you are happy with the result then press Send to store your new posting.

No offence intended Rab, You're done a brilliant job - not many PO or Chief stokers could have done better !!

I was just speaking to our shipmate Ian Wilson and he has problems with posting. He was re-writing his stories from email to postings. Ctrl+c was a strange language for him. So I hope this helps several to post more!
