There will be a crowd from the Lostoppos site and the ROMFT site on a run ashore that night as well.
Dont forget decent bar prices and MOD Navy Blend rum on optic at The Royal Maritime Club which also gives 10% discount on bar prices for members. Better to support the RMC which is a Naval Charity and YOUR Club, rather than line a civy landlord's pockets.
Unfortunately I have to be at a wedding on Fri and Sat in Leatherhead but will be legging it back Sunday afternoon to set up the SSAFA Awareness stand in the KT in the late afternoon. You never know, I may just apperar in the SODS Opera somewhere. |

| Hi Joe - long time no sea - well not since your stabilisers failed at Trafalgar night a couple of years ago!
Sorry to be pedantic - but the RMC is not strictly speaking a Naval Charity - it is for seafarers, whether they be the grey funnel line, RFA, P&O or fishermen. The RN did not know this until recently when the original deeds were examined. However it has strong Naval Links and we all thought it was RN when the bar opened at 4pm every day before the civvies were allowed to drink at such an hour. Furthermore, the RN has pumped money into the club for decades in complete ignorance of the specified purpose.
This may have had something to do with the change of name to Royal Maritime Club. But it will always be a matelots club at heart and I wholeheartedly endorse your recommendation to go there. |

| Interesting - I Always thought the "Home Club" was RN only !
Quite funny, we called in there last year for a swift half and didn't know how to sign in as ex-matelot's.
Luckily we had a ex-Bunting with us who was a police officer and when he flashed his warrent card, the jobsworth on the door said that'll do nicely sir !
So for future visits - can anyone explain the "Correct" procedure for getting through the door and enjoy a cheaper beverage should we not have a member of the Police with us ??
I think my old ID Card was cut up |

| You have to be a Member of the Club or get a Member to sign you in. Many Associations have "Country Membership" of the Club which entiles all its members to use the Clubs facilities at Members Rates. This only costs the Association about £65.00 a year (I think). Anyone who served in the RN is entitled to join the Club. All details on the RMC website - http://www.royalmaritimeclub.co.uk/ |
