PostSubject: In honour of the men of the 7th Intrepid -LEROS TRIP Sept 10   Fri 08 Jan 2010, 19:52

Gents, I have been in discussion with Albert Poulter about his ship; The 7th Intrepid. Albert was one of only a handful of survivors of the ship when she capsized and sank in Lakki bay, Leros in 1943

Albert and his shipmates campaigned to have a memorial stone erected over looking the bay but in the end they had to finance and build the site themselves. Last year Albert contacted us and asked us for our support. Alas we were a young fledgling of an Association and could not lend our help at that time. That has changed now and I have begun making plans for a select representation from our ranks to visit Leros (One of the Greek Islands) in September this year. So far our Vice Chair, Rattler Morgan, myself; the sectretary, and Bill Bailey another committee member have confirmed their intention to travel to Rhodes and then onto Leros for the 26th Sept 2010.

The trip will cost about £350 per person for the week and this includes flights and accomodation. Partners are welcome, no - encouraged to come!! and the plan is to stay on Rhodes or Cos, then on the 26th go over to Leros via Hydrofoil where we will be met by the Mayor. I am speaking with Naval Sec to secure an RN ship to be in harbour for the day and I am gathering up media support and the History channels interest.

the Question is WHO ELSE WANTS TO GO TO LEROS IN SEPT (at your own expence)
