For the history buffs amongst us, brilliant new series by Dan Snow entitled Empire of the Seas about the history of the RN started tonight on BBC2. It's in four parts starting at 9pm. Should be possible to catch tonights part on iPlayer

I caught ten minutes of it earlier while having a brew in the work canteen.Will certainly catch it again as it looked as if it could be a very good series.

Our forebearers were the cause of the revolution, didn't know that until last night. But old Samual Pepys should have been awarded at least one badge for services to the Fairer Sex, he could have been a matelot with his track record

You'll find he does a lot of name dropping. For those who are lucky enough to own an eBook the diaries can be downloaded in several formats.
