PostSubject: A message from me - killickBUNTS   Tue 12 Jan 2010, 21:12

I had time to think and I wish to take this opportunity to apologise to YOU the members of the website and the association for my outbursts of recent days. I feel that I have been guilty of hypocrisy, something that I claimed in one of my post that this was something that could never be said of me.

Let me explain. I have outlined in many posts and actions that my endeavours are in the best interest of the association and membership and I still believe that to be true. This recent ‘difference of opinion’ and the public airing of it has been detrimental to the good of the association and for that I apologise whole heartedly, it has quite obviously not been in the best interests of the association and it is this action that has made me guilty of hypocrisy. Again I ask YOU, the people who have given me the privilege of being their secretary, to accept my apologies.

Some have seen the creation of the second website as a threat to this one and I must emphasise that this is most definitely not the case. I acknowledge that this website has provided us with a gateway to a new chapter in our history and I acknowledge Rab Carrigans hard work in making this site work for us. My concern was that this site did not ‘SELL’ us correctly and if the eyes of the world were to fall upon us then vital information about us and our ship would be overlooked. I created the .CO.UK website to compliment this site, not to replace it. Again if there has been confusion over this then I apologise.

The hmsintrepid.co.uk website was not initially intended for public viewing until it had been viewed by the committee however mistakes were made and there is no going back. I have many other things in the pipeline, all of which will bring revenue to the association and these too were to be aired at the meeting in February. We wait and see what these might be…

In closing I must thank you all for giving me the honour of being your secretary and if you will allow me to continue in that role I will endeavour to bring you many more adventures, runs ashore and make & mends. The decision shipmates, I leave in your very capable hands……..

Business as normal please George - you make a dam fine secretary, even if you don't wear short skirts or ave the right legs.

May I also take this opportunity to thank all of the commitee for the excellent work that they do on our behalf - much appreciated.

P.S. No good me starting a "tinnies" website - liquids not permitted in the diplomatic bag!

Regards - Sid Winder

Your message and my email to you have crossed in the ether.

Good words, and I can see the storm clouds parting as we speak. Wink

Well done! Stick together lads. United we stand - divided we fall!

If I may say so then committee should maybe looking at ways to convert a great number of the now over 600 registered HMS INTREPID users to FULL members.

In addition to the ID card - other Intrepid paraphernalia could be made available as a membership startup kit. (pens, caps etc. etc - at a reduced rate of course)

No worries George, your a star for the effort you put in for us,

Sid said you dont wear a short skirt, but I bet you say to your wife "I'm just going upstairs to work on the computer love, to do some stuff for the association", then its upstairs rummaging through her wardrobe for her best outfits and lipstick. lol!

As others have already said, common sense has prevailed.

As for George, I bet he was allways the one at the Sod's operas who "just happened to have" a pair of stockings, and "full kit". Wont be able to sleep tonight, just know I will have nightmares about it now.....

i just hope it ALL gets sorted out

I have no problem

I personally wish to thank everyone who has contributed to HMS INTREPID and that we should ALL understand that we are ALL the better and richer in our lives for the friendship / brotherhood we have experienced - being HMS INTREPID crews

Seek WISDOM and gain UNDERSTANDING

The NAVY anthem says its all, hearts of oak are our ships, hearts of oak are our men, steady boys steady - without the cameraderie, the friendship the brotherhood, where were we

Both sides can have their say, both sides should be capable of understanding the other persons viewpoint and opinion, work together to resolve these issues

Act with INTEGRITY

Cass
