As a 4 x 4 owner of numerous years(initially bought as a back-up for my delivery
business), I was intrigued when reading my local paper today someone had
written in suggesting that 4 x 4 owners should be clubbed together in times of
severe weather to help out locally. Now this is not a bad idea I think I can hear
you say. Except the idea has been put forward by someone who lost his seat at
the last election and will be standing again at the forth-coming one. Pardon me if
I sound cynical, but this is a member of a party, if I remember correctly wanted
to ban all 4 x 4's completely or if not impose £2,000 annual road tax. Yes it is
the Lib Dems. Who will not be getting my vote for hypocrisy.

Looks like you guy's are getting our winter weather! We haven't had snow or below freezing temperatures in eastern Canada since before Christmas, mind you that will change in a hurry no doubt. Thank goodness for Snow Tires, can't remember the last time I got stuck in snow.

I have a BMW and I got stuck on a hill last week - rear wheel drive... anyway I sat there for afew minutes then remembered the snow chains that I bought 4 yrs ago from Halfords (£60) What a difference, off I went with a whooosh. Got to be the best Halfords purchase to date...

I have been driving 4x4, 6x6 6x4 for over 28 years now and I don’t pay tax and insurance, what I have done though is help many people that needed help, pulling them out of ditches etc, when they have done of the road. In the last cold spell I was helping lots of drivers get up the hill on the Taverstock road. Puling them up the hill, as I had studded tyres on the L/R, even helping a police vehicle get to his emergency.

We need Chelsea tractors 4x4

The Stigma is the WAG's who insist on the Chelsea Tractors to take the kids on a couple hundred metre school run. They just think that because they are big and high up then they are safe, but most of the little women can't see what's behind them when they try and reverse, actually putting all the other kids in danger. It's keeping up with Jones's most of the time.

I agree, if you like them and can afford to run them, then you shouldn't be penalised...............I myself have a 4.8 Litre V12 Coracle and it never get's stuck ! Only when the River Taff Freezes !

Working in a rural area has its perks, this is my police vehicle use by me daily to get to my beat. In this weather it has proved its worth, so much so that when Im not a t work it gets nicked by whoever can find the key first.

I took this picture of it the day after it got delivered. Before this one we had a 02plate Nissan Terrano which I must say was a shed to drive but great in the mud and snow
